The Story Tribe — where stories bring us home

When I run the ‘Becoming a Storyteller’ training I always advise trainees to practice a story out loud three times before sharing it publicly, people often ask where they should do it without feeling embarrassed. It’s a very personal thing, some people tell out loud in the car, some while doing the dishes…I practice telling my stories while fell running over the hills, I’ve had a few odd looks when I’ve rounded a corner in full voice and bumped into surprised hikers eating their sandwiches. It always brings me closer to a nature tale when I speak it out loud into the wind- I also believe that when we tell tales to the wind she responds by sending stories to us too.

Bookings for winter outdoor storytelling often land in the height of summer… when the word winter stirs up visions of snowy greens, the scent of cinnamon, and hot chocolate drifting through the air. It always fills me with excitement.

Yes, gently falling snow would have been lovely. But it’s other moments on days like this that truly matter.
