My Story

For the past twenty-five years, I've worked in outdoor and environmental education, beginning with contemporary approaches to adventure, experiential learning and environmental education.
Over time, however, my journey has led me towards something much older. Ways of learning and connecting that have been part of human life for generations — gathering around fires, sharing stories, learning through play, and discovering our place within the natural world.
I've come to believe that these ancient traditions hold something especially important for the world we live in today. They nurture curiosity, strengthen relationships, build communities and remind us that we are not separate from nature, but part of it.
Today, my work brings together storytelling, nature connection, play, community development and education. Different paths, perhaps, but all growing from the same roots: a belief in the power of stories, shared experiences and meaningful human connection.
Finding My
Storytelling Voice

Over twenty years ago, during my early days as an Outdoor Educator in New Hampshire, USA, I watched the master storyteller Odds Bodkin share his tales. I was captivated by the magic of oral storytelling and its remarkable ability to bring people together.
Inspired, I began exploring stories and metaphor in my own work. I told tales of landscapes on mountainsides and beneath towering rock faces. On ropes courses and adventure programmes, stories became metaphors for personal growth. In environmental education, storytelling offered something beyond facts and information — a sense of wonder, imagination and a deeper connection with the natural world.
I began to understand why this ancient tradition had stood the test of time. Stories could nurture curiosity, build community and help us discover something of ourselves in the world around us.
At the time, I was an extremely reluctant public speaker, yet I knew I wanted to become a storyteller. For more than twenty years, I've been finding my voice, learning the craft and discovering the extraordinary power of a story well told.
What began as a quiet ambition has become one of the greatest joys of my life.
